Pair of 19th Century Paintings of a Handsome Lady & Gentlemen

A charming pair of early 19th Century Paintings; gouache and / or watercolor under glass in period frames.

To their great advantage they have been painted on the much lauded Reynold's acid-free abraded surface drawing paper, and confirming this the Reynold's blind stamp can be seen upper right on the women's artwork. The artworks are not signed and the sitters are unknown.

The paintings themselves have been executed in subtle style and with attention to detail, capturing the handsome features of the sitters - who are almost certainly husband and wife or brother and sister - and their apparel. The colours are still strong, the art papers have some surface marks commensurate with age, which does not distract from the overall pleasing effect (please see photos for condition).

The ebonised period frames, in a matt finish, are good and strong with some surface marks, which again does not distract. They are clearly original to the artworks (one being very slightly different in size to the other). The backboards have been replaced but in keeping with the overall style/period of the frame.

Dimensions are approximately: 7" by 8" (18 x 20cm) of each.
