18th Century (c1730-50) English free blown MALLET wine bottle
An 18th Century (c1730-50) English free blown MALLET wine bottle of squat mallet shape with deep kick, short neck and string rim, 18cm high.
Dark olive green (black) glass with typical slight sag in the base from cooling down (after being blown into its mallet shape.)
The bottle has good clear glass, no haze, there is a small long-standing chip in its string rim, typical wear on the base. Please see photos. Overall the condition can be described as “good to very good”.
Dimensions: 7" high, 5" diameter at base. (18cm x 13cm) Weight: 824 grams
This is a great example, with a particular pleasing Mallet shape (neck not too long).
