19th C. traditional English pub game iron Quoits Rings
A pair of rare iron Quoits Rings originating from the East Anglia region of the U.K.
The old “summer” pub game was played outside where contestants “hurled” the rings at a metal spike projecting from a bed of clay. In winter contestants retreated inside the pub to use the more familiar quoits board. These (rarer) quoit rings are from the East Anglia tradition which used slightly smaller and lighter iron quoits (sensibly in my view!) Quoits in other parts of England were often as heavy as 5 lbs each!
The are in excellent condition and have a great patina. Please see photographs. These are rare survivors!
