Vintage Ship Diorama 1920s-1930s
A lovely presented Ships Diorama of the Schooner "Crosstree" (painted on the bow) which is flying the British Ensign. The diorama is wonderfully folk-art (the lighthouse and the background hills seem out of scale with the boat) and is probably dating from around the 1920/1930s. The original back board is of masonite (hardboard) introduced in 1898, but in common usage in the early 20th C. onwards. Three mast Schooners of this type with two or more jibs were often used on the Atlantic run. All in all a really nice example.
