1930-1940s Cast Iron Heraldic Plaque of Great Yarmouth
A rare painted cast iron heraldic plaque of the East Anglian fishing port of Great Yarmouth. with added motto. The curious combination of lions and herrings represents the town's loyalty to the King as well as its position as a prime fishing port in England.
The motto: 'REX ET NOSTRA JURA' means, 'The King and our rights'. Dating from the 1930-40s it once graced one of the town's piers.
